Bio

Hello there! My name is Austin Mateka, and I’m the founder and creative director of Neuage Design. My journey as a graphic designer has led me to do more meaningful work for people and communities.

For the past 7 years, I’ve gathered creative experience from an array of projects in a variety of industries. I support initiatives that I care about, especially mental health organizations. Now, I see value in my ability to blend what I've learned through the lens of collective health. This is the singular idea that Neuage was born from—to give back through design.

Services

The most effective approach to design is one that considers both the problem and the solution simultaneously. I’m equipped to take all moving parts of a goal into consideration, leading to an intuitive whole that is greater than the sum of its components.

Listen icon: Sound waves going into an ear with a piercing.
1. Listen

I want to fully understand what you’re looking to achieve. We’ll discuss your challenges, goals, and clearly define what we are trying to solve together.

Plan icon: Two signs pointing two different directions on a post.
2. Plan

I’ll gather our thoughts to create a project outline, and compare it to our initial conversation to ensure alignment. Processes and timelines will then be organized in a way that’s most efficient.

Reflect Icon: A person looking in a mirror with a smile.
3. Reflect

We’ll review the plan to make sure each step has a clear purpose and direction. We’ll re-evaluate, asking: does our course of action address the core problem and lead us to the most effective solution?

Analyze icon: An eye looking through a monocle.
4. Analyze

Research, research, research. I’ll take a deep dive into your company, its history, the industry, trends to follow or avoid, what your competitors are doing, and upcoming technologies.

Incubate icon: An egg that has an wavy line wrapping around it.
5. Incubate

Now, I’ll step back to let the findings lead me in all possible directions. This is the time for mindful thinking to unearth the roots of the problem and begin working towards a solution.

Roughs Icon: An ink pen writing on a piece of wavy paper.
6. Roughs

Action! From concepts to presentations and roughs, we will explore everything, and constantly reiterate our ideas to make sure we’re on pace to achieve your goals.

Refine Icon: A hammer hitting a piece on an anvil.
7. Refine

From the rough work, we will need to make an important decision: identify the best approach and expunge everything else. A complex series of parts will be distilled into a clear idea.

Implement Icon: Finger pushing a button.
8. Implement

Now it’s time to launch and let our work out into the world. It will be packaged, sent off to print, or will go live online for people to view and react to. Of course, the work is not done here.

Assess Icon: A star within recycle arrows.
9. Assess

How do we know we’ve been successful? What is or isn’t resonating with your audience? Perfection is always within reach—we'll identify areas of improvement for future projects.
